Frequently asked questions

How do I install an eSIM on an iPhone?

If your iPhone is on iOS 17.4 or later, open your order page on that iPhone and tap the install button. iOS takes over and does the rest.

Otherwise use the QR code: Settings → Mobile Service (called Cellular on some versions) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code, then point the camera at the code on another screen.

If the iPhone you are installing on is the one showing the code, take a screenshot of it first. When the eSIM setup asks you to scan, choose that picture from your photos instead.

Do this on wifi, before you fly. An eSIM installs once, so do not delete it afterwards.

When do the days on my plan start counting?

For most plans, when the eSIM first connects to a network at the destination — not when you buy it, and not when you install it.

That is why installing at home on wifi costs you nothing: the plan waits until you arrive.

Some plans work differently, and each plan page says which. If your dates are tight, read that line before paying.

My eSIM is not connecting. What should I check?

Data roaming first. On an iPhone: Settings → Cellular → the travel line → Data Roaming on. On Android it sits under the SIM’s own settings. Without it a travel eSIM cannot use any network.

Then check that mobile data is set to the travel line rather than your home line, and that the travel line is switched on.

Then turn flight mode on and off, which makes the phone search again. Wait up to two minutes.

If all three are right and there is still nothing, pick a network by hand. If that fails too, write to us while you are still travelling.

What does unlimited data mean on your plans?

There is no total allowance to run out. Data keeps working for every day of the plan, and you are never cut off and never asked for more money.

Each day includes an amount that runs at full speed. Once a day passes that amount, the connection carries on at the slower speed the plan states, until the next day begins and full speed returns.

Both numbers are printed on every plan before you pay: how much runs at full speed each day, and what speed it continues at. We do not hide either in a fair-use footnote.

Can I get a refund?

A plan is refunded in full on request as long as the eSIM has not been installed. A plan that was never installed is refunded with no questions asked.

Once the eSIM is installed, or once any data has been used, the plan is not refundable. The allowance has been issued to your phone by then and cannot be taken back.

There is one exception, and it is the important one: if the eSIM cannot connect to any of the plan's networks anywhere in its coverage area because of a fault in the eSIM itself or with the network operator, we refund in full even though it was installed. Weak or no signal in one building or area, a locked or incompatible phone, or a setting on the phone is not a fault of the eSIM.

Does my phone support eSIM?

Open your settings and look for "Add eSIM". iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM. Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. If the option is there, your phone takes an eSIM.

Second check — is it unlocked? iPhone: Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock should say "No SIM restrictions". Android: ask your carrier or the shop that sold the phone. A locked phone refuses a travel eSIM even when everything else is right.

iPhone: XR, XS and every newer model, including the eSIM-capable iPhone SE models. iPhone X, 8 and older have no eSIM.

Android: Most recent Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy flagships and a growing number of others — but the same model can differ by the country it was sold in. Check the settings, not the model name.

No eSIM on your phone? Install the plan on another eSIM phone and share its data with personal hotspot — every plan allows it.

I bought a plan and my phone can't take it. If the eSIM is not installed, we refund in full on request.
